Post-War Suburban Homes - The Nassau Majority

Post-war Cape Cod, Ranch, Split-Level, and Colonial homes built between the 1940s and 1970s define the residential character of Levittown, Hicksville, Uniondale, Elmont, Floral Park, New Hyde Park, Franklin Square, West Hempstead, Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa, East Meadow, and dozens of other Nassau communities. These properties typically have driveways, interior staircases, and finished basements requiring full home crews. Move access is generally straightforward. Co-op and Condo Buildings

Nassau County has significant stocks of co-op apartment buildings in Great Neck, Manhasset, Port Washington, Garden City, Rockville Centre, Long Beach, Lawrence, Cedarhurst, and Freeport. These buildings require COI naming the managing agent or board as additional insured with minimum $1 million in general liability and separate workers’ compensation – the same standard as NYC co-op boards. Freight elevator windows are enforced by building management in taller buildings. We file COIs same-day at no charge and book elevator windows in advance. For Nassau Village co-op boards that require a move deposit in addition to COI, we note this requirement when we book.

Gold Coast Estates and Gated Village Properties

Nassau County’s North Shore Gold Coast – spanning Old Westbury, Brookville, Muttontown, Upper Brookville, Lattingtown, Mill Neck, Matinecock, Centre Island, Cove Neck, and Oyster Bay Cove – contains some of the most valuable residential real estate in the United States. How does moving to or from Long Beach work?

Long Beach is a city on a barrier island accessible only via the Long Beach Bridge (Route 4A) from Island Park and Oceanside. Moving trucks must cross the bridge, which has a posted height clearance of 14 feet and a toll in both directions. Dream Moving verifies truck height against the bridge clearance before scheduling any Long Beach job. During beach season (June through September), Route 4A traffic is heavily congested during mid-day and weekend hours. We recommend early-morning starts (before 8 AM) for all Long Beach moves during beach season. The bridge toll is included in the all-inclusive hourly quote.

Can moving trucks use the Long Island parkways in Nassau County?

No. The Northern State Parkway, Southern State Parkway, Meadowbrook State Parkway, Wantagh State Parkway, and Bethpage State Parkway all prohibit commercial vehicles.
